Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

Special professors (S-professors) are scholars appointed to full professorships by Humboldt-Universität. The special element about them is the fact that they work in leading positions at external research facilities, which maintain special relations with Humboldt-Universität on the basis of Cooperation Agreements . The Agreements also cover an arrangement concerning the funding of the professorship. As a rule, the teaching load of special professors at Humboldt-Universität has been reduced, taking into account their additional work outside the university.
In addition to full special professors, Humboldt-Universität has appointed special junior professors .

S-professorships are considered to be an institutional link to external research facilities. They contribute substantially to a regular scientific exchange.
