International Dispute Resolution (IDR) Master of Laws

A one-year full-time graduate degree program in International Dispute Resolution (IDR), with a strong emphasis on international arbitration. The master's program is open to law graduates from jurisdictions around the world and is taught exclusively in English.

Arbitration and alternative dispute resolution methods are becoming ever more important in legal practice, especially in an international context. Arbitration, for example, is already the preferred dispute resolution mechanism in international trade. The IDR LL.M. program provides the students with an opportunity to obtain the theoretical knowledge combined with practical skills necessary to be able to meet the demands of a global legal market.

The focus of the first semester of the program is international arbitration, with modules on commercial and investment arbitration. There is also a course in private international law. The second semester centers on both the theory and practice of ADR methods, such as adjudication, mediation and negotiation. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and research in a specific area of their interest through writing a Master Thesis.
