Appointment of part-time, temporary lecturer positions in the Interdisciplinary Study Programme »Diversity of Knowledge«

We are looking for proposals for several temporary, part-time teaching contracts (2 teaching hours/week) in the interdisciplinary study programme »Diversity of Knowledge«.

»Diversity of Knowledge« is a programme of interdisciplinary studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin which adds an interdisciplinary component to the academic training of students from the natural sciences, the social sciences and the humanities by getting them to engage with concrete objects of knowledge.
The programme's classes focus on knowledge and structures of knowledge from an interdisciplinary perspective, with particular emphases on the stability, transferability and distinguishability of knowledge. Work in each seminar is based on a concrete object of knowledge, which is examined from a variety of disciplinary perspectives and serves to activate and integrate students' disciplinary knowledge while at the same time questioning its limits.

Four part-time teaching contracts will be allocated within the framework of Module 2: »Diversity of Knowledge«: Analyses and Methods.

More details on the programme, the concept and previous courses can be found on: bolognalab.hu-berlin.de/vielfalt-der-wissensformen.

Requirements

We are looking for committed academics with an interdisciplinary research profile, possibly specialising in the history of knowledge, who are expected to play an active part in shaping the »Diversity of Knowledge« interdisciplinary study programme. Teaching experience at university level and working with heterogeneous groups of students from different disciplines are desirable.

The application should include the following:

  • Course concept (1-2 pages), outlining the seminar content and programme and giving bibliographic references
  • Information on the interdisciplinary and didactic concept of the course
  • Suggestion for planned project work in the seminar (seminar product)
  • CV with information on previous teaching experience, particularly with interdisciplinary formats
  • A completed and signed copy of the form »Antrag auf Erteilung eines Lehrauftrags« (»Application for Part-Time Teaching Contracts« – teachers: sections 1-7) Please download the following PDF.
  • A short text that can be used as the basis for the description in the online course list

For the wintersemester 2017/2018, one part-time teaching contract (Lehrauftrag) in module 2: “Diversity of knowledge: analyses and methods”, is reserved for projects focusing on collections and exhibitions as expressions of knowledge and cultural techniques. For this contract, we are particularly interested in seminar proposals incorporating the collections of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The proposals here can either be based around teaching concepts involving individual collections or focus on cross-cutting, interdisciplinary issues applicable to collections more generally. A third option would be proposals exploring exhibitions as representation of systems of knowledge.
At the end of the semester, the results of the successful proposal should be presented publicly.

More details on the programme, the concept and previous courses can be found on: bolognalab.hu-berlin.de/vielfalt-der-wissensformen.
