Humboldt-Universität regards it as a special obligation to promote the application of new research results for the benefit of society, focussing on the following three very promising areas of knowledge and technology transfer:

Cooperation with “ipal GmbH“ ensures that results obtained from university research are protected and applied efficiently.
- Outsourcing,
Contractual Research, Research Services
The professional marketing of know-how and the cooperation with external partners are the responsibility of Humboldt-Innovation GmbH, a company owned by Humboldt-Universität.
- Encouraging Entrepreneurship and Start-Up Businesses
In addition to Humboldt-Innovation GmbH, there is a remarkable number of activities aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and start-up businesses, e.g. in the framework of the business plan competition of the Berlin-Brandenburg region.
