Overview: Funding

Here you will find an overview of the funding opportunities and programmes offered by the Centre for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. These include, in particular, financial support schemes aimed at promoting women and helping students and professionals balance family life with their studies or careers, particularly when pursuing academic qualifications.

Advancement of women

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin supports women both individually and structurally throughout their careers: job and training programmes, scholarships and awards support women at all career stages and across all staff groups in their individual career paths. At the same time, these measures are also aimed at bringing about structural change: they raise the profile of female researchers’ achievements and transform academic cultures by bringing more women into leadership positions.

Supporting a healthy work-life balance

The Family Fund at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin provides annual funding to help overcome structural barriers to balancing family life with studies, work and an academic career. Among other things, it supports completion grants for doctoral and postdoctoral qualifications, as well as subsidies for childcare during business trips.

In addition, childcare is available during peak and off-peak hours as well as at events.

Berlin Equal Opportunities Programme

Women remain under-represented in research, teaching and at almost all academic and artistic levels of qualification, particularly in professorial and leadership roles. The State of Berlin is committed to targeted measures to promote equal opportunities for women and to establish gender-equitable structures and cultures. The Berlin Equal Opportunities Programme (BCP) supports gender equality initiatives at universities.

The BCP office is based at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
