The gender pay gap at Humboldt-Universität
As in wider German society, a comprehensive pay equity has not yet been achieved at HU either. This is also demonstrated by an initial internal HU survey on the gender pay gap relating to the performance-related pay of professors. The Berlin Higher Education Agreements for 2024 to 2028 oblige universities in Berlin, and thus also HU, to develop appropriate measures to close the gender pay gap. A key tool in this regard is a cross-university, external study on the extent and causes of pay differences between women and men among academic and non-academic staff.
Our team working on gender equality and equity is involved in an advisory capacity to promote transparency regarding pay differences at HU and to reduce the gender pay gap at all levels.
Equal pay for secretaries
The “Pay Equity for Secretaries” working group at HU is campaigning for a reassessment of secretarial work and for the affected colleagues to be reclassified into a higher pay grade. The working group has also been organising the annual “Office Day” since 2023.
