Description

The evening will open with a reading of Out of Gaza: A Tale of Love, Exile, and Friendship by Jewish-Israeli scholar Prof. Dr. Katharina Galor (Brown University). It will be followed by a discussion with experts on Sudan (Ahmed Isamaldin, activist and researcher, University of Khartoum), Syria (Yassin Swehat, Journalist, Executive Editor, aljumhuriya.net) and Palestine (Yasmeen Daher, International Research Group on Authoritarianism & Counter-Strategies, Universität Potsdam) and moderated by Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan (Berliner Institut für empirische Integrations- und Migrationsforschung, HU Berlin).

The discussion revisits the im/possibilities of alliances under ongoing conditions of violence and oppression. We want to explore how new forms of relationality can rupture the logic of separation and reclaim the political imagination of coexistence and alliances in a Global Middle East. In doing so, we hope to explore and reimagine the present and future as a rupture with the past and not a reconfiguration of the current historical injustices.

The event will take place on November 25th 2025, 4:00–6:00 p.m. in the HU Lichthof and will be held in English.
