Description
An initiative by the Centre for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging in collaboration with CLAIM gGmbH
Anti-Muslim racism is a widespread but often overlooked social problem. In this workshop, we aim to work together to raise awareness of how this racism manifests itself in our daily lives, as well as within structures and institutions – and what we can do to combat it. Together, we will examine the historical development of anti-Muslim stereotypes, their impact on people perceived as Muslim, and the role that each and every one of us can play in combating discrimination. The workshop invites participants to reflect on their own thought patterns, broaden their perspectives and develop strategies for action based on solidarity.
What you can expect from the workshop:
- Raising awareness of anti-Muslim racism as a specific form of discrimination
- Insights into historical and social contexts
- Space for self-reflection and discussion
- Practical approaches and strategies for everyday personal and professional life
The workshop offers members of the Humboldt University community who are affected by anti-Muslim racism a safe space for shared learning, discussion and exchange. The aim is to develop a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying anti-Muslim racism and to work together to find ways to foster greater empathy, solidarity and justice.
Venue: Room 2070a in the Main Building (Unter den Linden 6)
