Project description

The IceCube detector has already provided a variety of world-leading scientific results in the field of astroparticle physics. These range from extragalactic high-energy neutrino point sources and cosmic rays to neutrino physics and the search for big bang relics. Over the next 3 years, the IceCube Upgrade will be deployed into the ice of the South Pole as a densely instrumented extension of the detector. Implementation of the IceCube Upgrade is the main goal of this proposal. In addition, R&D work will be performed on planned future extensions that will significantly increase the sensitivity of the detector.
