Project description
International academic exchange and the discussion of current methods and research findings are essential prerequisites for excellent research. This is especially true for researchers at the beginning of their careers, during their doctoral studies and in the first years thereafter. Existing networking opportunities rarely target this group specifically. The Berlin Economics Summer Academy aims to establish a recurring, academically outstanding format that promotes networking among doctoral candidates and early-career postdoctoral researchers in economic sciences. The Summer Academy is aimed at international early-career researchers and consists of two components:
1) A multi-day academic conference: During the conference, the best international doctoral researchers in a specialized field present their work and discuss it with one another as well as with renowned researchers from the Faculty of the Berlin School of Economics (BSoE).
2) A program for multi-week research stays for international doctoral candidates and early-career postdoctoral researchers. The program promotes in-depth exchange with closely related colleagues at the BSoE and thereby fosters strong networks, potential co-authorships, and other long-term collaborations. This is particularly important for early-career researchers, who often still have only limited professional networks.
