Project description

ClaimGuard develops and evaluates a low-threshold app to counter misinformation by supporting citizens in checking claims through collaborative dialogues with an AI chatbot. The app extracts key claims from shared content, matches them against known misinformation in a knowledge base, and assesses website reliability using established criteria. Users remain in control of the final judgment while receiving actionable guidance and explanations, for example how to verify URLs, assess tone, and interpret images, and they can share outcomes with the community and forward cases to the codetekt fact-checking platform for follow-up. ClaimGuard is multilingual (German, Turkish, Russian, Arabic), integrates approaches from fact-checking, human-computer interaction, and machine learning, and will publish core software, reviews, and datasets for public reuse.
