Project description

As a Prussian scholar and university professor, the Norwegian-born and Danish-educated natural philosopher Henrik Steffens (1773–1845) was one of the central figures of German and Danish Romanticism and German Idealism.
The aim of the project is to systematically record and index approximately 600 surviving letters and other personal documents by Steffens for the first time and to publish them in a digital portal using the FuD research network and database system. There, the evaluated correspondence of Henrik Steffens and the institution in possession of each autograph will be made available for further international scientific research, and Steffens' network will be visualized. The scientific cataloging of Henrik Steffens' correspondence thus forms a new source base for further philosophical, social-historical, and literary research that does not yet exist for his estate.
