Project description
This project examines a bundled digital intervention for smallholder maize producers in southern Mali within the framework of a randomized controlled trial (RCT). The intervention combines weather index insurance, locally tailored weather forecasts, and agricultural advisory services delivered via SMS and additionally through WhatsApp videos. The objective is to improve access to relevant, timely information and risk management tools, thereby supporting decision-making processes in agriculture. The study is based on data from approximately 1,500 households across different agro-climatic zones and analyzes the uptake as well as potential mechanisms of impact of the digital services. In addition, it examines the integration of different information channels and their role in the dissemination of agronomic knowledge. The project thus contributes to a better understanding of the potential of digital solutions for agriculture in low-income settings.
