FG 402: Structure and fun ction of roots systems of montane forests in south ecuador as affected by elevation a.s.l.

In the subproject "Roots" that is part of the Forschergruppe "Funktionalität in einem gropischen Bergregenwald Südecuadors; Diversität, dynamische Prozesse und Nutzungspotentiale unter ökosystemaren Gesichtspunkten", basic data are taken on structure and function of root systems of trees in south-ecuadorian montane forests. The measurements in plots located at 1900 m, 2400 m and 3100 m a.s.l. include parameters describing the architecture of coarse root systems of individual trees, as well as the mass and distribution of coarse and fine roots at various soil depths.
