Humboldt International Teacher Training (HIT)

In addition to the internationalization offers in the HU teaching profession, which have so far been implemented primarily through internships abroad at partner schools in addition to the Humboldt International Teacher Training (HIT) project, the follow-up project will expand the tested formats from the 2021-2024 term in the years 2025-2029 with regard to systematically designed, target group-specific, internationalized hybrid teaching formats and extend them to other cooperation partners with a greater focus on student research. The three established thematic focuses of “Historical Awareness”, inclusive education and multilingual education will be supplemented by the two equally topical themes of decolonization & anti-racist education and civic education/life orientation.

The established components of the initial application - the two annual Winter Schools in South Africa and Berlin, including the Intercultural Learning Week as part of Internationalization@home and the data collection for the learning research project at South African schools - will be continued and expanded due to their effectiveness.

The central objective of the follow-up application is the collaborative, international development, testing and institutionalization of hybrid teaching formats for HU teaching degree students in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes, which are characterized by project weeks and research-based learning. By 2029, the courses should be institutionally accessible and creditable for students within the partner universities and contribute to the visibility of international teaching and study programs in the teaching profession as well as student research worldwide. To this end, student research conferences will be held and a joint online project platform will be set up. The project is thus a pilot project for forward-looking, internationally networked courses in the regions of Africa and Europe in terms of methodology and content.
