Project description

The collaboration focuses on the question of how civic organizations that work with refugees shape, stabilise and transform intersectional boundary processes in progressive as well as exclusionary ways. This is a highly relevant field of research due to ongoing flight migration and the huge inter- and intranational variation in civil society responses. The participating researchers all have special expertise in regard to this field while coming from different disciplinary backgrounds.

A 3-day workshop in Berlin will serve as an opportunity to a) discuss the participant's current work on civic organizations in the context of migration, b) to develop a joint publication project (individual papers, or a call for a special issue or edited volume), c) to discuss further research ideas with the aim to develop a grant proposal (e.g. for Horizon Europe or DFG-AHRC).
