Project description

Accurate socioeconomic indicators are vital for effective policy and equitable resource allocation. Existing methods, designed for population-level analysis (e.g., countries or large demographic groups), often obscure local variation and risk misrepresenting conditions in specific regions. This project advances the field by applying interpretable machine learning (iML) and explainable artificial intelligence (xAI) to produce reliable, fine-grained estimates at the district and community levels. The resulting tools will empower policymakers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to make evidence-based decisions that directly address pressing socioeconomic challenges.
