Description
This conference is intended to mark the starting point for a collaborative project designed to connect historical and contemporary perspectives on the relation between nature and normativity. Thus, we hope to promote a dialogue between contemporary philosophers and historians of philosophy by addressing questions regarding for instance:
- the notions of nature and normativity, and their possible complementarity (e.g., as suggested by the distinction of first and second nature),
- the notion of intentional content in semantics and epistemology,
- the source of normativity of beliefs,
- priority claims regarding, for instance, causal or social constraints in the determination of content, the relation of internalist and externalist accounts of content and justification
