Project description

This research aims at highlighting the presence of Pan-Africanism in African-European music and how effective it is in creating a sense of unity and identity among new generations of diasporic Africans of whom some identify as Afropeans and other as Afropolitans or simply diasporic Africans. Another research question will evolve around the issue of how multicultural integration and European inclusion is promoted through music. The project focuses on the texts and artistic practices of singer-songwriters Nneka (based in Germany with Nigerian family background) and Lubiana (based in Belgium with Cameroonian family background and further affiliations to Mali) as case studies.
