Studies of Hydrocarbon Formation and Redeposition in ITER-relevant Divertor Chamber Conditions

Project duration
01/2005  – 12/2007

Project description

Due to plasma-wall-interaction in fusion devices with graphite wall materials in the divertor CH-molecules and radicals can be created with a high sticking probability. These material layers can trap hydrogen and its isotopes and leading to problems for future fusion devices. The physical and chemical processes connected with the CH-formation and redeposition is being investigated with the plasma simulator PSI-2 and the diagnostic equipment.
