Project description

Knowledge Transfer in Antique Christian Apocryphya: By examining the apocryphal literature of Christianity, hitherto mainly perceived as a stable reservoir of intellectually inferior ‘popular piety’ or even wild heresy, the project will explore the way in which knowledge is integrated and transformed in this corpus. The project will focus on how claims to the truth and validity of knowledge change when transferred into other genres, as well as on the internal dynamics of the knowledge transferred.
