HU Institutional Strategy: Image and Thing. Figurations of the Submarine in Photography, Film and Art, 1850–2012 (Funding Line Creating Opportunities)

Goal of this endeavour is to examine the separated epistemic and aesthetic dimensions of images and things, which can be described as “figurations of the submarine”, in an interdisciplinary research project: main attention is laid on photographs and film sequences taken in the context of oceanographic studies and the analysis of objects in the spectrum of compound, artefact and sculpture.
