HU Institutional Strategy: Die Geschichte der Humanismusforschung (Funding Line Creating Opportunities)

The research complex aims at exploring the history of science of European Humanism, its tradition and establishment as a core of a European elite education in schools and universities. On the basis of catalogues and manuals of the Renaissance the project wants to examine the scientification of the reputation of Renaissance-humanists. The project furthermore aims at laying the groundwork for a publication on scholar literature of the 17th, 18th and early 19th century. The project combines elements of classical “intellectual history” with historic and sociological methods and approaches of constellation research and transformation theory. The desideratum-character and the multi-disciplinarity of the book project will provide wide impulses for the Humanities.
