Berliner Chancengleichheitsprogramm

Berliner Programm zur Förderung der Chancengleichheit für Frauen in Forschung und Lehre (BCP)

This programme aims to improve the representation of women on all academic levels and in particular among professors. The programme also strives to implement gender studies in research and higher education teaching.

The programme is funded by the Berlin Senate Administration (Senatsverwaltung) responsible for Work, Integration and Women as well as the Berlin Senate Administration (Senatsverwaltung) responsible for Education, Youth and Science.

All 14 state-funded higher education institutions in Berlin can apply for grants. Individual applications cannot be considered. A highly competitive selection process and an applications and selections committee ensures the excellence of the funded women and schemes.

The BCP runs on up to 3.8 million Euro per year:

  • 1.023.000 Euro provided by the federal state of Berlin through the Senatsverwaltung responsible for women
  • 1.900.000 Euro provided by the federal state of Berlin through the Senatsverwaltung responsible for science
  • up to 877.000 Euro contributed by the higher education institutions themselves
