The Humboldt Forum Wirtschaft e.V. invites you to the 25th Humboldt Symposium on 20 May 2026 at 10:00 am. Under the theme “Global Asymmetries – Who owns today?”, representatives from the worlds of politics, business and academia will discuss existing and evolving global power structures. Guests will include the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katherina Reiche; the former President of the Bundestag and Member of the Bundestag, Claudia Roth; and the President of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Prof. Dr Moritz Schularick. The symposium is organised by the Humboldt Forum Economy, an association of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Humboldt-Universität.

Global Imbalances

The symposium critically examines different perspectives on global imbalances and provides a platform for interdisciplinary exchange. The five panels will focus in particular on issues of development policy, Europe’s role in the context of systemic rivalry between China and the US, and key challenges relating to global distribution issues.

At a glance

Admission to the symposium is free. An after-party will follow, costing €7.50.
