Humboldt-Universität of Berlin (HU) will welcome its first-year students on Monday, 12 October 2026, at a matriculation ceremony to be held at the Erwin Schrödinger Centre in Berlin-Adlershof. All students, teaching staff and their guests are warmly invited. As of 29 September 2026, more than 8,000 students have already enrolled on the various degree programmes at HU for the 2026/27 winter semester.
A varied programme awaits those attending the enrolment ceremony: From 2 pm to 7 pm, key university departments, student initiatives and student councils, the Adlershof faculties and institutes, as well as non-university research organisations and start-ups from the Adlershof science park will be showcasing themselves at the information fair. There will also be guided tours of the Natural Sciences Branch Library and the Institute of Chemistry. From 4.00 pm, HU President Prof. Dr Julia von Blumenthal will welcome the students to a ceremonial service. Prof. Dr Beate Lütke, who will take up the post of Vice-President for Teaching and Student Affairs at HU in October, will speak about the history of the register of students. Afterwards, two students will be symbolically enrolled by the President and Vice-President. The programme will be livened up by a musical gong show, in which HU’s departments and programmes will introduce themselves, alongside university sports activities and a poetry slam by the artist Paula Bannier. From 7 pm, there will be an after-party for all first-year students at MoPs.
