Four researchers from the Department of Geography at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) are among the most frequently cited scientists worldwide this year. Geographers Prof Dr Dagmar Haase, Prof Dr Patrick Hostert, Prof Dr Tobias Kümmerle and ProfDr Carl-Friedrich Schleussner were honoured in the current "Highly Cited Researchers" ranking by the analysis service Clarivate.
The ranking includes researchers whose scientific publications are among the most influential worldwide and are cited particularly frequently. Inclusion in the list is seen as special recognition for outstanding research achievements and international visibility.
The four scientists honoured deal with key issues in geography and sustainability research - from urban ecology and land use dynamics to remote sensing and the effects of climate change.
With four nominations in the field of geography, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin confirms its leading role in environmental and sustainability sciences.
