Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) opened its doors from 5 pm to midnight on the Long Night of Science (LNDW) at its sites in Berlin-Mitte (Main Building, Theatre of Veterinary Anatomy, Humboldt Laboratory in the Humboldt Forum, Mori Ôgai Memorial), Adlershof, Dahlem and the Späth Arboretum. Around 6,700 visitors explored more than 200 science projects over the course of the evening. Researchers provided insights into their work through experiments, lectures, guided tours, children’s universities, interactive games, exhibitions and hands-on activities.
Among the highlights for guests were the guided tours on the history of Humboldt-Universität, and many also took the opportunity to discover the botanical treasures in the greenhouses of the Späth Arboretum or to dive into the deep sea during a multisensory lecture in the Theatre of Veterinary Anatomy (TAT). The football-playing robots on the Campus Adlershof were once again a major attraction this year, and the “Science of Rave” in the courtyard of the main building drew large crowds who danced to electronic music long into the night.
Science festival with 30,000 guests in Berlin
The Long Night of Science in Berlin is considered the largest science festival in Germany. Almost 60 institutions across Berlin took part, with a total of 30,000 visitors recorded. The next Long Night of Science is scheduled for 19 June 2027.
