Medical care and tips on sport and nutrition
The sports medicine outpatient clinic is located on the North Campus of Humboldt University and in the immediate vicinity of the clinical departments of Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The aim of the department is to provide patients with optimal medical care for complaints and sports injuries. If necessary, well-founded recommendations on sport, training and nutrition are also given.
Building bridges for participation and inclusion
The Competence Centre for Rehabilitation Sciences (KoRa) brings together expertise from the Institute for Rehabilitation Sciences at Humboldt University. The centre's range of services includes therapy, counselling and supervision services, which are available in particular to children, young people and adults with special developmental challenges and experiences of disability. The centre also publishes materials for educational practice and offers further and advanced training in this area.
Perspectives in the therapy of neurological diseases
Neurological and psychiatric diseases represent a growing challenge for society as a whole. The Cluster of Excellence "NeuroCure" brings together scientists from top Berlin institutes to research the complex interplay of the brain from embryonic development to old age. The aim is to decode the functioning of the brain in order to investigate diseases such as Alzheimer's, depression, epilepsy, Parkinson's, stroke and schizophrenia in more detail. In doing so, they want to bridge the gap between basic research and clinical practice - and thus develop innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
Does the city influence our mental health?
Around three quarters of people in Germany live in cities, but urban life can have an impact on mental health: For example, the risk of schizophrenia is two times higher for city dwellers and the risk of depression is one and a half times higher. In the "Your Emotional City" project, scientists are working with Berlin residents to investigate how the built and social environment in the city triggers emotions and influences mental well-being. To this end, participants regularly use an app for a week to indicate how they feel as they go about their everyday lives in Berlin.
