The Karl Ferdinand Werner Programme at the German Historical Institute in Paris supports short-term research stays for postdoctoral researchers in the fields of history and cultural studies. The next application round opens in September!

The Karl-Ferdinand-Werner Fellowship at the German Historical Institute in Paris offers advanced researchers who have at least completed their PhD the opportunity to further develop their projects in Paris. Funding is available for short research stays for archive and library research, manuscript work and the expansion of Franco-German cooperation in the fields of history and cultural studies. Fellows benefit from accommodation at the Institute, an excellent research infrastructure and valuable networking opportunities within Paris’s international research community. Applications are accepted twice a year, with the next round opening in September 2026.
