The Master’s in Consulting and Consulting Science (M.Sc.) is an accredited, part-time degree program at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in cooperation with artop – Institute at HU Berlin. It integrates scientific foundations of consulting research with hands-on professional training in one of four specializations: systemic coaching, mediation, facilitation, or human-centred design. Graduates receive both the academic Master of Science degree and a certified artop qualification in their chosen specialization.
During the program, you learn to understand consulting from scientific, methodological, and personal perspectives. You analyze the factors behind effective consulting, reflect on your professional role, and develop practical competencies in coaching, mediation, facilitation, or design processes. Research-oriented seminars provide psychological, communicative, and systemic foundations, while practice-based training phases support transfer into your own professional field.
The structure of the program follows a three-track model that links the university’s scientific consulting knowledge with the practical consulting expertise of artop training programs. Within the elective module area, students choose their practical specialization from one of the four consulting fields according to their individual interests.

Admission requirements
- Proof of a completed first university degree of at least three years
- At least one year of relevant professional experience after the first degree
- Recognition of longer prior studies before the Master’s may be possible on a case-by-case basis if relevant content is demonstrated. This also applies to applicants who already hold a Master’s degree or have completed Master-relevant coursework at other institutions.
