Course structure and content
Russian Studies is part of the field of Foreign Languages and Literatures. The course covers the Russian language, literature and culture. Solid foreign language training goes alongside the acquisition of specialist skills. The course deals with linguistic and literary studies phenomena, but also includes historical, regional studies and cultural studies issues.

Special features
You do not have to provide proof of Russian language skills upon enrolment, but level A2 is required as an entry requirement for the Language Practice III module. If necessary, a preparatory course can be completed, see the preparatory tutorial programme. Adequate knowledge of German is required.

Career opportunities & prospects
With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian, you can apply for the Master of Education programme or for the Master's programmes offered by the Institute of Slavic Studies: "Slavic Languages" and "Cultures and Literatures of Central and Eastern Europe." Successful completion of the degree programme qualifies graduates for all professional fields in which in-depth knowledge of Russian culture, literature, and language is required, or where key competencies acquired through literary or linguistic studies are needed.
These fields of activity are found primarily in media and journalism, publishing and cultural management, press and public relations, international and European organizations and agencies, language technology, education and professional development, as well as associations and foundations.
The Bachelor’s programme in Russian qualifies graduates for advanced academic studies.
The Bachelor’s programme in Russian with a teaching option prepares graduates for a Master’s degree programme focused on teaching.
