Strategic networks

Humboldt-Universität is involved in the two academic networks Circle U. and CENTRAL in order to expand its commitment in Europe.

In the European university alliance Circle U., alongside eight European partners, it is building a European university of the future: Innovative structures offer students – as well as researchers, teachers, and even employees – the opportunity to create new forms of highly networked collaboration in mobility, teaching or research to be implemented at European level.

In the CENTRAL network, Humboldt-Universität is strengthening its position in Central Europe and, together with four other partners contributing to the consolidation and further development of this important area of higher education.

European higher education and cutting-edge research? The Circle U. university alliance is developing a joint international campus and offers a variety of opportunities for students, scientists and administrative staff.

In the CENTRAL network, five renowned universities from Central European capitals are working on making the academic contribution of the Central/Eastern Europe region more visible on the continent and beyond.

Study

New offerings for Bachelor’s and Master’s students focus on natural disasters, the management of natural heritage, as well as equity and diversity. The courses are mostly virtual, interdisciplinary, and offer up to 5 ECTS credits.

The application phase for the CENTRAL Leadership Programme 2026 has begun. The programme is aimed at Master’s and doctoral students interested in political, social, and historical contexts in Central and Eastern Europe.

From 16 to 20 February Circle U. celebrates the diversity of languages and cultures at the alliance universities across Europe. Expect virtual language tasters, conversation cafés, workshops and more! Students, academics and staff are invited.

Study

This summer, get a travel grant and collect ECTS in cities such as Paris, Oslo, Aarhus or Belgrade! At Circle U.'s free interdisciplinary summer programmes, you will study with peers from nine European countries. Apply be 28 February!
