Ciao! I'm Jemima and I'm studying English Literature in Berlin. This summer semester, I'm in Rome, at Sapienza University, with the Erasmus+ programme. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be blogging about my experiences and adventures in Italy.
From filing forms for Auslands-BAföG funding and the Erasmus scholarship to the online flat hunt and an enquiry to the Italian embassy: There are, indeed, many roads that lead to Rome – but ultimately it’s really easy.
Whether I was going to the beach near Tarquinia or trying to get back home from Vesuvius: Hitchhiking proved to be the best way for me to practise Italian. As it turns out, the class room is only one way to acquire language skills.
My semester abroad in Rome is about to come to an end. Time for a look back – both at my experience as an exchange student and at all the things I got to see and appreciate during my time in Italy.
As students at HU Berlin, you can apply to spend a semester abroad at partner universities across the globe. To inspire, encourage and inform you, our HU ambassadors will blog about their experiences throughout their stay. New posts every other week.
