A stay abroad is worthwhile at any stage of your studies. In the bachelor's stage, you can get to know a different educational system and improve your intercultural and language skills. During the master's and doctoral stages, you can also deepen your interest in specific research questions and methods.

With many exchange places available, Humboldt-Universität has the opportunity to support and facilitate stays at all levels of study. An independently organised internship abroad, a research project or a short-term programme at one of our partner universities can also offer valuable opportunities. Do you want to go to another European country for one to two semesters? With Erasmus+, you have many possibilities and solid financing. From the application to recognition: Find out here how it works.

HU maintains university partnerships all over the world. This network offers students diverse opportunities to study abroad. From an initial overview to travel preparations – you can find all the information here.

Erasmus+ Partner Countries offers grants for partner institutions outside the EU. In addition to the main target group of doctoral students, bachelor’s and master’s students can also be funded in various formats.

The Erasmus+ programme offers a wide variety of opportunities for international learning, teaching and networking. Blended Intensive Programmes combine virtual teaching components with short stays abroad for in-person meetings.

Your university or country of choice is not represented in the HU programmes and partnerships? Then you still have the possibility of organising your stay abroad yourself as a so-called free mover.

Internship abroad and study trips

Are you interested in French politics and parliamentary practice in France? Are you a German citizen who speaks French at a very good level? Then the Franco-German Parliament Internship is for you!

Circle U. offers unique internship opportunities for Master's students who are enrolled at one of the partner universities or have recently graduated.

There are funding options available for group trips and excursions for students and doctoral candidates. The application must be submitted by a member of the teaching staff. Find out how this works and what you need to take into account.

European Public Governance: New Master's programme to start this autumn

Brussels, Pisa, Berlin: The trilateral Master’s programme by Circle U. takes students to at least two European universities and combines political science, sociology, history, economics and law. Applications for the first cohort are now open.
