The application period for the International Parliamentary Scholarship 2027 has started: Gain in-depth insights into the parliamentary work of the German Bundestag!

The International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) of the German Bundestag offers politically engaged young university graduates from up to 50 countries in Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and North and South America who wish to gain in-depth insight into Germany's parliamentary system.

The programme is conducted annually under the patronage of the President of the German Bundestag in cooperation with Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Technische Universität Berlin.

The programme takes place in Berlin from March to July 2027 and includes:

  • an introductory phase on parliamentary democracy, minority rights protection, the media landscape in Germany and the culture of remembrance
  • workshops and events organized by political foundations
  • a three-month internship in the office of a member of parliament (the core element of the scholarship)
  • accompanying academic courses at Berlin universities, including Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

All scholarship holders receive the following scholarship benefits for the duration of the programme:

  • a monthly stipend of 700 euros
  • free accommodation in a residential facility
  • coverage of travel costs to and from Germany
  • health, accident and liability insurance

2027 Application deadlines

  • May 15, 2026: Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Indonesia, Malaysia
  • May 29,2026: South Africa and Namibia
  • May 31, 2026: New Zealand
  • July 31, 2026: All other IPS participating countries
