Utopie Europa competition: Show commitment to democracy!

International
The Institut français is seeking projects promoting democracy and European integration as part of its “Utopie Europa” scheme. Students can present initiatives at HU in a medium of their choice until 15 June and win funding of up to 1,000 euros.

Utopie Europa is entering its seventh round! In 2026, we are once again looking for creative and forward-thinking ideas to boost young people’s political participation. Are you a student who is actively committed to democracy and a united Europe in a unique way, or do you contribute to the European integration process?

The Higher Education Office of the French Embassy/Institut français Deutschland (IFD) in Berlin and the Franco-German University (DFH) are looking for the best projects and ideas that bring Europe to life on campus and perhaps even inspire others to follow suit: From social media campaigns to (short) films and podcasts and much more, which showcase and promote European cooperation at universities and work to strengthen a democratic society — so much is happening at universities!

Competition procedure

Students submit an entry as a team, in the format of their choice, presenting a project at their university that promotes democracy and Europe.
The submitted entries will be presented to a jury, which will select the three winning teams for the ‘Utopia Europe Prize 2026’.

The three best projects will receive funding of up to 1,000 Euro!

Application deadline: 15 June 2026
