Each year, Humboldt-Universität, Freie Universität, and Peking University jointly award the Young Scientist Fellowship to an early-career researcher.

The Center for German Studies (ZDS) is an interdisciplinary institution at Peking University that, in close cooperation with Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, focuses on Germany-related issues in teaching and research. At the same time, the ZDS plays a significant role in promoting Chinese-German academic and cultural exchange. The center has been funded by the DAAD with resources from the German Federal Foreign Office since 2005.

Each year, Humboldt-Universität, Freie Universität, and Peking University jointly award the Young Scientist Fellowship to an early-career researcher.

The fellowship includes a three-week stay, typically in September, at Peking University. The fellow will teach a course for the ZDS master's students and will have the opportunity to explore the research landscape at Peking University.

The topic of the course can be proposed individually and will be finalized in consultation with the ZDS.

The Young Scientist Fellowship is open to early-career researchers with a completed doctorate from the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Faculty of Philosophy
  • Faculty of Language and Literary Studies
