Coordination Centre for Scientific University Collections in Germany

The Coordination Centre for Scientific University Collections in Germany supports universities in safeguarding, developing and raising the profile of their collections as valuable resources for research, teaching and knowledge transfer. It promotes networking, exchange and common standards across disciplinary and institutional boundaries.

Tasks and objectives

Through its wide-ranging activities, the Coordination Centre helps to unlock and sustainably strengthen the potential of academic university collections. It supports the professionalisation of work within and with the collections, promotes exchange within the collections community, and guides the strategic development of the collections.

The aim is to network the various collections across different locations and disciplines, taking into account their respective subject-specific and local characteristics, and to further develop them as resources for research, teaching and knowledge transfer. Through partnerships and coordinated collaboration across federal states, institutions and disciplines, the Coordination Centre creates synergies, eases the burden on individual universities and contributes to common standards and harmonised approaches.
