A Surveillance System for Assessing and Monitoring of Desertification

DeSurvey integrates 10 RTD workpackages concerned with an integrated approach on monitoring, assessing and modelling desertification from local to regional scale in the European Mediterranean. One of the focalworkpackages focuses on geomatics methods and remote sensing - the research the Humboldt-University Berlin is mainly involved. Integrated remote sensing and geomatics approaches represent one of the few available options to derive spatially explicit assessments of areas affected by land degradation or desertification process.
