DFG funds national service point for non-commercial and non-profit publishing based on the Diamond Open Access model

A consortium to establish a national service point for Diamond Open Access (SeDOA), led by the university libraries of TU Darmstadt and HU, as well as the Max Weber Foundation, begins its work.

Diamond Open Access is a publishing model in which authors are not charged publication fees. It is based on non-commercial principles and aims to serve the interests of research and science. The German Research Foundation (DFG) approved the project at the end of last year, which involves a consortium of 15 universities, university libraries, and other partners to establish a national service point for Diamond Open Access (SeDOA), which is now launching. The consortium is jointly led by the university libraries of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) and Technische Universität Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt), alongside the Max Weber Foundation. The project will initially be funded for three years.

Goal: Inform, connect, and further develop publication infrastructures

SeDOA aims to promote the concept of Diamond Open Access within the community, increase the visibility of existing publication infrastructures, contribute to their optimisation, and develop its own complementary and innovative services. As the German Diamond Capacity Centre, SeDOA will be part of a European network and strengthen international collaboration.
