Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin wins DFG award for “International Research Marketing“ concept

HU was selected as one of two German universities among 19 applicants and will receive €100,000 for the implementation of its concept in the coming year

As part of the "International Research Marketing" concept competition, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) has awarded its prize to the concept submitted by the International Strategy office of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU). HU was selected as one of two German universities among 19 applicants and will receive €100,000 for the implementation of its concept in the coming year. The award ceremony shall take place in Potsdam on 16 February 2017.

A "Journalist-in-Residence" programme is the focus of the research marketing initiatives developed in collaboration with the Einstein Foundation Berlin. Talented young journalists from North and South America as well as Asia – regions in which Humboldt-Universität has strategically expanded its international network – will be given the opportunity to experience the Berlin´s science landscape up close. The University's collaborative partners include Technische Universität Berlin and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Wissenschaft im Dialog as well as Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH have pledged their support for the project. Freie Universität Berlin and Berlin University of the Arts will also open their doors for the programme. Over the course of a two-month visit, the young journalists will become acquainted with cutting-edge research in Berlin. They will meet and accompany researchers in various fields and stages of their careers.

With this initative, Humboldt-Universität and its partners will pave the way for future academic communication with an international focus; to position Berlin as a hub for top academic work abroad; and to enhance, on a long-term basis, the international visibility of Berlin as a research location. The selection of young journalists from North and South America as well as Asia will be realized in close collaboration with the HU strategic profile partners, Princeton University, Universidade de São Paulo and the National University of Singapore.
