Humboldt’s voices
What do you associate with Humboldt? Seriously, or in jest?
Scientifically, creatively, satirically or critically?
Be it the Humboldt Glacier in Greenland or Mount Humboldt in New
Zealand, the city of Humboldt, Tennessee, or the Colégio Humboldt in
São Paulo, the Humboldt Penguin or the Humboldt lily, Humboldt’s ideal
of education or the Humboldt grammar school in Berlin-Tegel – the
brothers Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt represent education,
travelling and discovery as well as reform and progress.
To mark the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2010, the International Office
invites international undergraduate and postgraduate students, and
undergraduate and postgraduate alumni, to let us know about their
impressions, experience and associations with regard to the brothers
Humboldt and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
You may express yourself in any of the following media: essay, poetry,
video message, collage (with or without photos), photography,
sketching, painting or short film. Use your imagination!
