Statement of the Institute of Social Sciences on the occupation

We strongly condemn the use of anti-Semitic symbolism - including by the terrorist organization Hamas – as well as the violent vandalism that occurred at our institute during the occupation on May 22nd and 23rd, 2024. We are committed to the fundamental right to freedom of expression and assembly, stand for a coexistence free of violence and repression, and support de-escalation and the opening of dialogue spaces. Our institute is and remains a place for democratic, pluralistic exchange. We will under no circumstances allow anti-Semitism, racism, and any other forms of discrimination or violence to enter our spaces and will oppose this with all our determination.

We very much regret the many burdens that our colleagues and students have experienced as a result of the occupation and eviction.
