Cooperation partners of the Humboldt Universität

Cooperation partners from science and research

Collaboration of the Humboldt Universität with its partners from science and research allows the University to deepen and intensify its research spectrum in specific fields, while simultaneously expanding its range of courses for young researchers.

Focus

The Joint Laboratory for Structural Research (JLSR) provides important infrastructure for research on organic, inorganic and hybrid materials and systems.

The focus is on microscopy methods, using electrons, X-rays and scanning probes. JLSR is an institution in which HU collaborates with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie and TU Berlin.

Co-operation with companies

In numerous fields, applied research serves as a generator of ideas and impulses for politics, business and administration. The university encourages application-oriented research by supporting co-operation with companies (amongst other transfer channels). Humboldt-Innovation GmbH is the knowledge and technology transfer company of Humboldt-Universität (HU). As a wholly-owned subsidiary, Humboldt-Innovation GmbH acts as a liaison agency between university, businesses and the public sector.

Humboldt-Innovation GmbH promotes and manages co-operation projects with partners on behalf of the university.

Support for:

  • Research agreements
  • Development agreements
  • Contracts for scientific services

HU’s scientists have already worked with external partners on many different projects:

Co-operation with Accor Hospitality Germany GmbH

Accor Hospitality Germany GmbH and the Chair for Psychological Diagnostics (Prof. Matthias Ziegler) at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin have jointly realized several research projects, i.e. about the optimization of human resources management tools. One of the projects was particularly about the development of competency models for the variety of different job profiles within the hotels of different standards.

Co-operation with Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.

Winning the 2009 and 2010 HP Innovation Research Awards led to a close cooperation between the Chair of Databases and Information Systems (Prof. J.C. Freytag, Ph.D.) at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the HP research group (Malu Castellanos, Ph.D.) in the area of Information Management (headed by Meichun Hsu, Ph.D.) at HP Labs, Palo Alto. This cooperation developed from a more general one on clouds and data base systems to a useful exchange of research ideas, including research visits, in the area of streaming systems to process and analyze data in real time.

Map of Research Expertise Logo

Map of Research Expertise

Compatible partnerships turn new ideas and research results into innovations. The Map of Research Expertisefacilitates finding suitable experts for your implementation-oriented research project by providing a subject- and sector-based overview of HU’s researchers. Its goal is to initiate implementation-oriented research projects, e.g. contract research or scientific services.

LAB websites

On their individual LAB website, professors can choose to present their expertise in implementation-oriented research, previous projects as well as their methods and/or lab equipment. This allows them to tailor the information to the needs of companies interested in research partnerships.
