Research

In September, Berlin is celebrating democracy under the slogan ‘A month for everyone – democracy forever!’. To mark the occasion, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is inviting people to reflect on the importance of academic freedom in a democracy.

Open Humboldt

When is academic freedom at stake, and is all research protected by academic freedom? To mark the International Day of Democracy on 15 September, we discuss these questions with philosopher Prof. Dr. Geert Keil.

The Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries, in collaboration with Humboldt-Universität and other research institutions, has published a guide on animal welfare and animal health in prawn farming.

Teaching

The Berlin Scientific Society has awarded the EHS Study Prize to Kassandra Jensch from the Department of Geography for her Master’s thesis. Felicitas Beier has been awarded the Doctoral Prize for her doctoral thesis at the Thaer Institute.

Open Humboldt
Research

The ‘Open Humboldt Freiräume’ project, led by Prof. Dr Steffen Greve of Humboldt-Universität, is collaborating with Special Olympics Germany to promote inclusive sports training and translate research into sustainable educational practice.
