9-Euro Refund
The Energy Dismissal Package II. (Entlasstungspaket) passed by the Bundestag and Bundesrat also included the 9€ ticket. Students of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, because they had already paid the price for the semester ticket in advance for the summer semester 2022, will be retroactively reimbursed for the overpaid amount. It is expected that the online application form will be activated in the student portal AGNES from November 22, 2022.
Who is entitled to a refund?
Eligible for a refund are students of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin who were regularly enrolled at HU in the summer semester 2022 during June, July or August as major or program students.
Who *cannot* apply for a refund?
You cannot apply for a refund if
- you were exempted from paying the Semesterticket fee at your own request, or
- you are exempt from the obligation to pay for the semester ticket (e.g. company ticket holder, distance learning student, persons who are entitled to public transport according to SGB IX), or
- you are registered as a multiple enrollee at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, or
- you receive a subsidy from the Solidarity Fund of the student body, or
- you were not yet or no longer enrolled at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin during the specified period.
How can I make a claim?
To get a refund of the difference, you need to follow these points. Assign yourself to one of the three groups and contact us via the contact form if you have any further questions:
A. You are still enrolled at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in the winter semester 2022/23
|
|
B. You de-registred (exmatriculated) during the summer semester 2022 or at the beginning of the winter semester 2022/23.
You do not need to take any action. If you are entitled to a refund, the corresponding amount will be transferred to the account from which you last paid the re-registration fees.
We have reviewed all cases and have started the reimbursement process and expect to have it completed by the end of January 2023. Please refrain from individual queries as to whether an instruction has been issued in your specific case. We will inform you centrally at this point when the reimbursements have been completed in total. Only after the publication of the general information on the completed refund and in the event that you have not received any amount, please contact the Enrollment Office via the contact form. |
|
C. You were enrolled as international students in the summer semester of 2022 at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin as part of a (mobility) program.
You will receive an email from the Incoming Team with instructions concerning the reimbursement. If you are entitled to a refund, the corresponding amount will be transferred to your bank account after you have provided the Incoming Team with your bank details. We will inform you here when the refunds have been completed. If you are still enrolled at HU Berlin and have access to your HU account, you can request your reimbursement through AGNES. Please follow the steps outlines under A. |
From when and until when can I submit a refund request?
You can submit the application online via the student portal AGNES from November 22, 2022. Please note that the application must be received no later than Mrz. 31, 2023 (the end of winter semester 2022/23).
When will I receive the difference?
The data is transmitted weekly by the Student Services Department to the Humboldt University Cashier's Office. However, it can take up to 14 business days for the money to be credited to the specified account.
I accidentally entered the IBAN incorrectly or my banking account has changed. Can I correct the information?
You can correct the IBAN linked to the application yourself in the student portal AGNES under the menu item "Edit bank details". Please note that this is only possible as long as the application has not been processed. After the amount has been transferred, a subsequent correction is not possible. Any incorrect details will therefore be at your expense.
Can the difference also be transferred to a foreign account?
In principle, this is possible. Please note that separate foreign transfer fees may apply if the refund is made to an international account (outside the EU and EEA). Since the fees are your responsibility, they will be deducted from the amount to be reimbursed. Should there be a difference between the refund claim shown and the amount transferred, this will be due to the transfer fees.
I do not have a TAN list to confirm the details of my bank account. Do I therefore still need to apply for a TAN list?
Please check the address details stored in AGNES. If your correspondence address does not match the information in the "Edit Address" menu item, please contact the Student Services Department using the following contact form. Tell us your current address and attach suitable proof (e.g. scan of your ID card, copy of registration certificate).
I have lost my TAN list. Will I also automatically receive a new TAN list?
No, you have to request a replacement TAN list yourself in the AGNES portal under the menu item "TAN administration". Please check the address details stored in AGNES so that the TAN list sent by post reaches you. If your correspondence address does not match the information stored in the menu point "Edit address" in AGNES, please contact us using the contact form. Tell us your current address and attach suitable proof (e.g. scan of your ID card, copy of registration certificate).
I log into AGNES and I don't see the menu item 9-Euro Refund. What is the reason?
Please check, if you have logged in with the data of your student account. If you are employed as a student employee or as a scientific employee at HU, please do not use your employee ID, but only the data of your student CMS account.
Where can I get further information on data protection?
Due to the processing of personal data, a privacy policy has been drawn up in consultation with the student body and the HU data protection officer. Explanations of the type of data transmitted as well as the purpose of use can be found compiled on this page (available in German only).
Why am I only receiving the money now and why wasn't a solution chosen like at the FU (offsetting the difference with the re-registration fee for the winter semester 2022/23)?
The student body only received details of the reimbursement arrangements from the Berlin Transport Association (VBB) during the summer. This happened at a time when re-registration for the winter semester 2022/23 had already begun at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Therefore, it was decided in consultation with the Referent_innenRat that an individual refund for eligible students will be pursued further. This solution makes it possible for students to have the reimbursement amount transferred to a bank account that they determine themselves. The total amount from the transportation companies has been provided in October.
