Enrollment
Enrollment takes place after admission by the faculty. Doctoral students are enrolled without regard to the regular deadlines; enrollment can take place at any time during the semester. The application must be submitted within one month after the notification of admission to doctoral studies by the faculty.
Information on Enrollment for doctoral studies (regulations and required documents)
Doctoral candidates must pay semester tuition fees. At the time of registration, proof must be provided for the payment of semester tuition fees. This fee is comprised of:
- the standard fee for the Studentenwerk
- the fee for the student union (Studentenschaft)
- Proof of payment of the matriculation fee, in accordance with state budget laws
With the new Deutschlandsemesterticket contract, which was negotiated between the student body of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, represented by the Referent_innenrat (legally known as the AStA), and the transport companies and will come into force on October 1st 2024, the purchase of the Deutschlandsemesterticket is now compulsory for doctoral candidates.
However, the right to choose whether or not to purchase a semester ticket, which was partially provided for until the winter semester 2023/24, will no longer apply. A company ticket or a privately purchased ticket will also no longer be a reason for exemption.
