In addition to support from the DFG, federal ministries and the European Commission, foundations and other, often international donors play an important role in funding research at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

Alexander von Humboldt Professorships

With the Alexander von Humboldt Professorships, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation sponsors top international appointments at German universities. The HU has so far been able to acquire four AvH professorships. Link

Einstein Foundation Berlin

Through the Einstein Foundation Berlin, the state of Berlin funds research at the four Berlin universities and Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin in order to provide targeted support for Berlin as a center of science.
