Application route and preparing the application

General information

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin accepts applications from prospective students who have obtained their university entrance qualification abroad and are interested in studying at a university (intended degree: Preparatory college (Studienkolleg) with subsequent studies, bachelor's degree, state examination, master's degree), pre-checked by uni-assist.

If you have already obtained a bachelor's degree in Germany, you can use the application check to check which application route is correct for you. If you are not sure about your self-assignment, please contact us during the consultation hours for prospective international students.

Before submitting your application, please check which degree programmes are currently offered. If you have any questions about the content of your degree programme, please contact the Course Advisors in the faculty directly.

Please complete the application form for admission to a degree programme for international applicants online in the "My assist" application portal of uni-assist:

Your application must be submitted to uni-assist online including all necessary application documents (as PDF files) in accordance with the application deadline for the chosen degree programme.

Please scan and upload all required documents – original documents – to the "My assist" application portal as PDF files. If you do not have original documents at hand, please upload officially certified copies as original documents (all pages). Language certificates must also be uploaded as PDF documents (original).

If the original documents are not in German or English, please also scan and upload an official translation of the documents to the "My assist" application portal as a PDF file. Translations must be completed by a state-approved translator or translation agency. They can also be completed by a sworn interpreter or translator approved in the Federal Republic of Germany. You can also find information about the required translation on the uni-assist website.

The documents that are important for your application depend on the country in which you obtained your qualifications. It is therefore essential that you read the special country information from uni-assist.

If your documents can be verified online, provide uni-assist with everything needed to carry out the online verification. This means that information about how to carry out online verification should either be provided on the documents themselves or enclosed in a separate letter. All that you need to do is upload all this information to the "My assist" application portal.
